
Day 1: You will be met by your bilingual guide at the Los Mochis Airport and be transferred to the colonial town of El Fuerte, only 1 ½ hours away. You will be lodging at Hotel El Fuerte, a captivatingly beautiful, historic, 200 year old mansion.

Day 2: Transfer to the Hoyancos train Station, Board the “Chepe” train, the only passenger and tour train in all of Mexico. This day’s train travel includes some of the very most spectacular scenery of the entire train ride. You will be going past beautiful waterways, and climbing up into the rocky pine forests. Our destination this day will be Cerocahui. The lodging, Hotel Paraiso del Oso, is charming and rustic. The Oso ‘bear’ will make you feel at home.
This day you will have a very special evening; you will go to the Rim of the Urique Canyon, The Copper Canyon’s deepest (deeper than the Grand Canyon). Here, you will see one of the most beautiful vistas of the trip. Also we will visit the nice old village of Cerocahui and the 17th Century Jesuit mission of San Francisco Javier.

Day 3: This morning you are free to explore the area. One option is an easy hike to the Cave of the Crosses, a recently discovered archeological site. At 11:30 you will be leaving this beautiful place and going back to the Bahuichivo train station to catch the westbound train to our next destination, Creel.
Enjoy the dramatic landscape along the canyons while eating lunch on the train. Tonight’s lodging will be at the hotel Parador de la Montaña.
The afternoon is free for visiting the Tarahumara Museum or shopping. Try the Mission Store; all profits go to the local Santa Teresita hospital.

Day 4: After breakfast our driver will pick us up at our hotel and take us to the Second highest waterfall in Mexico, “Basaseachi”. This is the origin of the Candameña Canyon. Lodging will be at the Rancho San Lorenzo, a beautiful and peaceful area, right in the woods.
After lunch we will be transferred to the National Park of Basaseachi, the only national park inside The Copper Canyon. The evening will be a great time to experience this 246 meter high waterfall and make a wish.

Day 5: After a good breakfast, we leave Rancho San Lorenzo and go back by van to Creel. We continue on to the Raramuri homestead village of Cusarare where our lodging will be at the Sierra Lodge.
This night will be unforgettable! You will have great luxury and comfort within the simplicity of this lodge surrounded by Raramuri homes. You will be less of an observer of the Raramuri culture and more of a participant in this traditional, indigenous culture. There is no electricity! Rooms are lit by kerosene lamps and heated by woodstoves. The food is also really good! The evening will include a great hike to the Cusarare waterfall, 90 feet high (30 m) only 1 hour away from the hotel. (2 hours R.T.)

Day 6: Breakfast will be our last meal at the Sierra Lodge and our adventure really starts here. Today we will drive down to the Batopilas Canyon, the third deepest canyon in this complex of canyons. We will also see the late 19th century, historic home of Silver Magnate, Alexander Shepherd. Amazingly, this town was second only to Mexico City to have electricity.
Our two nights lodging will be at the charming and colorful Hotel Real de Minas.
In Batopilas our meals will be in town at home style family owned restaurants. This will be another great experience.Meals Included: breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Day 7: Batopilas area. In the morning we will visit the old Hacienda of San Miguel, former home of Alexander Shepherd. In the evening we will visit the Satevo Mission 8 km out of town.

Day 8: Midnight (4:30 AM) we will experience a sunrise on the canyon as we wind up a spectacular canyon road leaving this lovely town. Breakfast will be at “Verónicas” one of a kind restaurant. At 10:30 AM we need to be back at the train station to catch the eastbound train to make our last stop around Copper Canyon, at Posada Barrancas station. The Hotel Mansion Tarahumara will host you tonight, wrapping us up in its family ambiance.

Day 9: The morning will be free to enjoy an area of 3 canyons and after lunch we will take the train back to El Fuerte. Another great picture opportunity is coming up as you travel the most spectacular section of the train ride and then return to the charming town of El Fuerte!

Day 10: Breakfast will be the last meal in your package and according to your flight schedule, you will be transferred to the Los Mochis Airport and this way our excursion will get to the end!
